Behavioral Supports

In addition to its Adult Development Program services, CIWP offers Behavioral Management Program (BMP) services for participants who need extra support to reduce challenging behaviors. Each participant receiving BMP services will take part in a Functional Behavior Assessment to outline the reasons why the behavior occurs. This is then used to develop a Behavioral Intervention Plan.

CIWP uses practical applications of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to help individuals reduce undesired behaviors and replace them with more adaptive and pro-social ones. We recognize the complex nature of human behavior and provide a wide range of supports to promote long-lasting improvements, including the following:
  • Modifying the environment to provide a productive and enriching program for each individual.
  • Completing an assessment of common triggers for each behavior to better aid the individual in avoiding and/or coping with them.
  • Teaching participants new skills that will help them replace the undesired behavior.
  • Developing both formal and informal reinforcement programs to help motivate participants to use replacement skills.
Individuals participating in the behavioral program receive regular consultation with the Behavior Analyst as well as enhanced quarterly reporting.
